Alloys

Explanation:

(a) Alloy is a uniform mixture of two or more chemical elements, of which at least one is a metal.

Most alloys are made by melting the metals, mixing them while they are liquid to form a solution, then leaving them to cool and turn solid again.

(b)

  1. A solder has a lower melting point than its constituents.
  2. The alloy Brass is more hard, tough and strong than its constituents.

(c) Magnalium is an alloy made of 5% magnesium and 95% aluminum. This increases the strength and hardness of aluminium.

Magnalium is used to make scientific instruments and metal mirrors.
