(a) The direction of the magnetic field lines of force around a conductor is given by the Maxwell's right hand grip rule or the right handed corkscrew rule.​ Imagine that you are holding a current-carrying straight conductor in your right hand such that the thumb points towards the direction of current.
(b) The rule is the right hand palm rule, which states, 'Grasp the conductor in the right hand' with the thumb pointing in the direction of current, then the direction in which the fingers curl gives the direction of the magnetic field.

1. Magnetic field is the area of magnetic force which attracts metals towards the magnet, it consist of magnetic field lines.

2. We can determine the direction of magnetic field lines around the current carrying conductor by using Right hand thumb rule .

3. The rule is right hand thumb rule ;

imagine the straight current carrying conductor is your right hand such that the thumb points the direction of current flowing and the curling fingers points the direction of magnetic field lines produced around it.
