a)Periodicity is the phenomenon of the repetion in the properties of the elements due to no. of valence electrons in the valence shells.

b)All elements of the same group have same no. of valence electrons in their outermost shell, so they all have same chemical properties.

c)As we move from left to right in a period, the non-metallic character increases and as we know that metals lose electrons and non-metals gain electrons . Therefore,the tendency of elements to gain electrons increases as we move from left to right in a period.
