b) The chemical reaction that takes place during the process of seed germination is given below:

C₆H₁₂O₆ + O₂ ------> 2C₂H₅OH + 2CO₂ + 2ATP

The glucose gets broken down in the presence of oxygen to give out ethanol and carbon-di-oxide followed by 2 moles of ATP during the process of germination of seeds.

c) The diagram of the apparatus after 24 hours is attached in the image below

d) In order to make the seeds available for early germination and planting, the seed coats are removed from the seeds. The seed coats may involve in the prevention of water uptake exerting a mechanical restraint on the growth of the embryo.
