(a) What is the difference between 'distance travelled' by a body and its 'displacement'? Explain with the help of a diagram.
â(b) An ant travels a distance of 8 cm from P to Q and then moves a distance of 6 cm at right angles to PQ. Find its resultant displacement.

(a) Distance travelled by a body mainly tells you the total path taken by the body or total length covered by a body whereas Displacement tells you the shortest path taken by the body or I can say it is the shortest length covered by a body.

(b)As per the question,

Displacement=√(8^2+6^2)

=√(64+36)

=√100

= 10cm
