a sodium atom is the general form of sodium which contains 11 electrons .

but in case of sodium ion , sodium atom loses one electron and forms Na plus ion .

and it has 10 electrons.

because sodium, in Na sodium is in atomic form but in NaCl , it is in molecular form .

tq,.

<i> Sodium atom is the basic form of sodium. It is denoted by "Na".

Sodium ion is formed when sodium ion loses a certain number of electrons that is equal to its valency, i.e., it loses 1 electron. It is denoted by " Na +".
