Rutherford in 1911 preformed a excitement. he was accompanied by hans Geiger and ernest Marsden. in this experiment a thin gold foil was bounded with very small positively charged particles called Alpha particles most of the particles were undeflected and passed right through the gold foil but a few of them were deflected by small angles,he used Alpha particles because of their high energy
