Given :

Radius of wheel = 0.5m

Frequency of rotation = 2 rps

To Find :

Distance covered by wheel in 3 seconds.

Solution :

❖ In this question, frequency of rotation is given so we can easily calculate angular speed.

Relation between angular speed and frequency of rotation is given by ω = 2π × f

» ω denotes angular speed

» f denotes frequency

By substituting the given values;

➙ ω = 2π × 2

ω = 4π rad/s

In order to calculate linear distance covered by wheel first we need to find linear speed of the wheel.

➙ v = r ω

» v denotes linear speed

» r denotes radius

➙ v = 0.5 × 4π

➙ v = 2π m/s

♦ We know that speed is defined as the ratio of distance travelled to the time taken.

➠ v = d / t

➠ 2π = d / 3

➠ d = 2π × 3

➠ d = 6π = 6 × 3.14

d = 18.84 m
