Given :

  • Distance covered = 88 m.
  • Total number of revolutions = 1000

To find :

  • What is the diameter of the wheel ?

Solution :

Distance covered by the wheel in 1 revolution

⇒ 88 × 1000/1000 [ ∴ 1 km = 1000 m ]

⇒ 88 m

As we know that, wheel is in circular shape,

So,

⇒ Circumference of the wheel = Distance covered by the wheel in 1 revolution

⇒ Circumference = 88 m

⇒ 2π × r = 88

⇒ 2 × 22/7 × r = 88

⇒ 2 × r = 88 × 7 /22

⇒ 2r = 4 × 7

⇒ r = 28 /2

r = 14 m

As we know that

Diameter = 2r

⇒ Diameter = 2 × 14

⇒ Diameter = 28 m.

hence, the diameter of the wheel is 28 m.
