A wheel of diameter 2m is shown in figure 1.28 with axle at O . A force f=2N is applied at B in the in the direction shown in the figure. Calculate the moment of force about (1) the centre O and (2) the point A<br /><br />please help me ​

Given:

Diameter=2m

radius=1m

1. Moment of force=magnitude of force*perpendicular distance from the centre

                           =2N*1m

                      =2Nm

diameter=2m

therefore distance is equal to 2m

moment of force=magnitude of force*distance

                              =2N*2m

F = 2N

D = 2m

Diameter = 2m.

So,

The perpendicular distance between B and O is 1m

(i) Moment of force at the centre O

= F × r

= 2 × 1

= 2 Nm

Therefore it is clockwise.

(ii) Moment of force at point A

= F × r

= 2 × 2

= 4 Nm

Therefore it is clockwise.
