A wheel of radius 0.4 M can be rotated freely about its Axis as shown in the figure. A string is wrapped over its Rim and mass of 4 Kg is hung, An angular acceleration of 8 Radian per second square is produced in its due to the torque.Then moment of inertia of the wheel (g=10 m/s2)

The torque produce by gravitational force about center of wheel is rF

i.e. mgr =4×10×0.4

As wheel is rotating then torque is given as I×alpha (angular acceleration)

Equate both torques

4×10×0.4 = I×8

I=2 kgm

harry259259: but answer is 1.36 kg/m2
harry259259: even I got same answer

=Torque is defined as the turning

effect of an external force acting

on a body about a fixed axis or

point.

(TORQUE) R×f=1

=Alpha,r=0.4

=angular acceleration(rads²)

M=4kg

1=2

Torque(T=1a)

=T=ff

=(F=Mg)

=Mgr=1a

=4×10×0.4=1×8

1=16/8

1=2kg.m²
