A wheel starting from rest is rotating with a constant angular acceleration of 3 rad/sec². what is the angular displacement after 4 seconds.

Solution :

Angular acceleration : Angular velocity is the rate of velocity at which an object or a particle is rotating around a center.

Now we use, of angular rotation,

⟹ θ = ωt + 1/2 αt²

where,

  • θ = angular displacement
  • ω = initial angular velocity
  • t = time taken
  • α = angular acceleration

a/c to question;

  • θ = ?
  • ω = 0 {starting from rest}
  • t = 4 sec
  • α = 3 rad/sec²

Now, by kinematical equation;

⟹ θ = ωt + 1/2 αt²

⟹ θ = 0 * 4 + 1/2 * 3 * 4²

⟹ θ = 0 + 1/2 * 3 * 16

⟹ θ = 1/2 * 48

⟹ θ = 24 rad

Answer : Hence, the angular displacement of the wheel is 24 rad after 4 sec.
