A wheel uniformly reduces its angular velocity from 16 rad s-1
to 14 rad s-1
. If it
undergoes angular displacement of 14 rev, calculate the
(a) angular displacement in SI unit. [2 m]
(b) time taken by the wheel. [3 m]
(c) angular acceleration of the wheel. [3 m]

Answer:

a) angular displacement = 14 × 2π = 28π rad

Or 28 × 3.14 = 87.92rad or 88 rad

c) (final omega)^2 - (initial omega)^2 = 2 (alpha)

(theta)

14^2 -16^2 = 2(alpha) 88

196-256 = 176 (alpha)

(Alpha) = -0.34 rad/s^2

b) final omega = initial omega + alpha × time

14 = 16 + ( - 0.34 ) t

0.34t = 2

t = 2/0.34 = 5.88 seconds
