when embryo is implanted to the wall of uterus placenta develops, the placenta attaches to the wall of the uterus, and the fetus's umbilical cord develops from the placenta

A) The invading trophoblast, mesodermal cells derived from the epiblast, and adjacent endometrial tissue all contribute to the formation of placenta. The chorion and allantois take part in the formation of placenta. The human placenta is called chorioallantoic placenta.
