calcium sulphate hemihydrate  (or simply plaster of paris) is the  chemical name and  CaSO4 .1/2H2O is the  formula of  that powder.

when  mixed with water what happens(chemical equation)

CaSO4 .1/2H2O+1 1/2 H2O→ CaSO4.2H2O
