Silver Nitrate(AgNO3) solution is used in which when common salt(NaCl) dissolves, a white precipitate forms eventually.

This white precipitate formed is AgCl (SILVER CHLORIDE).

Thus, the reaction is :-

NaCl + AgNO3 → AgCl (white) ↓ + NaNO3..
