a white rectangular board 28 cm long and 16 cm wide is placed in the centre of a large rectangular wooden board. It creates a border of 2 cm around it. Find the area not covered by the white board​

Given :-

  • Length of the White board = 28 cm.
  • Breadth of the white board = 16 cm.

To Find :-

  • Area not covered by the white board.

Solution :-

Wooden board creates a border of 2 cm.

So,

Length of the wooden board :-

➩  Length of the white board + 2 cm

➩  28 + 2

➩  30 cm.

Area of the white board :-

➩  Length × Breadth

➩  28 × 16

➩  448 cm².

Area of the wooden board :-

➩  (28 + 4) × (16 + 4)

➩  32 × 20

➩  640 cm².

Area not covered by the white board :-

➩  Area of the wooden board - Area of the white board.

➩  640 - 448

➩  192 cm².
