A whole seller gives 10% discount and then another 20%. The total discount is 28 %

Solution:

If a % and b % are the two successive discounts then,

Net\ Discount = (a + b - \frac{ab}{100}) \%

Given that,

A whole seller gives 10% discount and then another 20%

a = 10 %

b = 20 %

Therefore,

Net\ Discount =( 10  + 20 - \frac{ 10 \times 20 }{100}) \%\\\\Net\ Discount =(  30 - 2 ) \%\\\\Net\ Discount = 28 \%

Thus total discount is 28 %
