A wholesale vinegar merchant bought 300 litres of vinegar at £1.50 a litre and
75 litres of a more expensive vinegar. He mixed the two types of vinegar and
sold it for £2.10 per litre, making a profit of 25%.
Find how much he paid per litre [in £] for the more expensive vinegar.

Answer:

2.4

Step-by-step explanation:

So cheap vinegar(300l) + expensive vinegar(75l) = normal vinegar (375l)

let expensive vinegar total price be x

price of total cheap vinegar = 300 * 1.5£ = 450£

price of total normal vinegar = 375 * 2.1£ = 787.5£ (this price is 25% more than original price)

so CP = SP * 100/100+profit

So CP = 787.5 * 100/125

           = 630£

now 450 + x =630

x = 630 - 450 = 180£

now price of 1l of expensive vinegar = 180/75 = 2.4

So the answer is 2.4
