A wholesaler sold an Article to customer. Wholesaler firstly made discount of 10% and afterward made discount of 20% on that.

Let the Price of the Article be x

»He made 10% discount so that 90% of List Price of article.

 \colon\implies{\tt{ \left( x \times \dfrac{90}{100} \right) }}

»Now, 20% discount on that article so that 80% of the discounted Price of the article.

 \colon\implies{\tt{ \left( x \times \dfrac{90}{100} \times \dfrac{80}{100} \right) }} \\

As We also know that Retailer paid ₹108 for whole transaction of an article.

 \colon\implies{\tt{ x \times \dfrac{90}{100} \times \dfrac{80}{100} = 108 }} \\ \\ \colon\implies{\tt{ x \times \dfrac{9}{10} \times \dfrac{4}{5} = 108 }} \\ \\ \colon\implies{\tt{ x = \dfrac{ \cancel{108} \times 5 \times \cancel{10} }{ \cancel{4}  \times \cancel{9} } }} \\ \\ \colon\implies{\tt{ x = 6 \times 25 }} \\ \\ \colon\implies{\tt{ x = \₹ \ 150 }}

So that, The List Price of the article was ₹150 .

Now Finally, It's time to Find the Profit made by Retailer after purchase of the article as.

 \colon\implies{\tt{ \₹ \ 150 - 108 }} \\ \\ \colon\implies{\tt{ \₹ \ 42 }}

Hence,

Retailer made profit of ₹42 after bought of an article.
