A wholesaler's list price of a fan is R1250 and it is available to a retailer at a discount of 20%. For how much should the retailer sell it, to earn a profit of 15%?

list price of the fan= Rs 1250
discount =20% of 1250
=20/100×1250
=250/-
thus CP for the retailer= 1250 - 250
= 1000/-
In order to gain 15% profit the fan must be sold at =
1000 + (1000 \times 15 \div 100)
=1000 + 150
=1150/-
