(a) Why are the plants raised through micropropagation termed as somaclones? (b) Mention two advantages of this technique.

(a) They are called somaclones because they are genetically identical to their parent plant species.
(b) Such plants are disease resistant and free from pest infestation. So, production is maximum. Quality is better and have longer shelf-life
