why does the cord of an electric heater not shine when it is switchid on when its coil shines?

  • A) In series circuits, all electrical switches will have common switch due to which they cannot be turned off/On separately. appliances . ---> Overall resistance of circuit will increase due to which the current from power supply will be less. Hence we prefer Parallel Circuits for domestic wiring.

  • B) The heating element of the heater is made up of alloy which has very high resistance so when current flows through the heating element, it becomes too hot and glows red. But the resistance of cord which is usually of copper or aluminum is very low so it does not glow.
