a) Why summer afternoons hotter than winter afternoons? Why summer afternoons hotter than winter afternoons?

Answer:
This is certainly a compelling question, and it seems no one as yet knows the answer. When our planet (mine anyway) inclines its axis so that light from the sun hits my latitude more directly, we have a warm season we call summer. During this time the days, morning and afternoon, are much warmer than when the earth’s axis tilts our latitude away from the equator, then the sun’s rays are less direct, and we have winter.

If you put a torch on a bolt, you heat and expand it, then when it cools, you can unbolt it from whatever you are taking apart. Well, for the same reason, the days in summer, being heated by the sun, expand, and they last longer. Winter days, shrunken by the cold, grow shorter.
