Answer:

Day 1: a

Day 2: a + 9

Day 3: a + 2(9)

Day 4: a + 3(9)

Day 5: a + 4(9)

Day 6 (last day): a + 5(9)

200 = a + a+9+a + 2(9) +a + 3(9) + a + 4(9) + a + 5(9)

200 = 6a + 9 + 18 +27 + 36 + 45

200 = 6a + 135

6a = 200 -135

6a = 65

a = 65/6 = 10.83 nuts (The question is faulty, the total nuts supposed to be 201, but not 200).

a = 11 nuts (approximately)

Day 1: 11

Day 2: a + 9 = 11 + 9 = 20 nuts

Day 3: a + 2(9) = 11 + 18 = 29 nuts

Day 4: a + 3(9) = 11 + 27 = 38 nuts

Day 5: a + 4(9) = 11 + 36 = 47 nuts

Day 6 (last day) = 11 + 45 = 56 nuts

To check:

11 + 20 + 29 + 38 + 47 + 56 = 201 nuts (The question is faulty, the total nuts supposed to be 201, but not 200).

Answer:

Day 1: 5 nuts

Day 2: 13 nuts

Day 3: 21 nuts

Day 4: 29 nuts

Day 5: 37 nuts

Step by Step Explanation:

Suppose we use “x” to represent the amount of doggy food he had on the 1st day, then to write the equation we do:

x+x+8+x+16+x+24+x+32=105

5x+80                            =105

5x                                  =

105-80

5x                                  =25

x=5

So on day 1 he ate 5 then day 2 he ate 13, day 3 he ate 21, day 4 he ate 29 and day 5 he ate 37 and it equals 105.
