Given:

A merchant purchase 54 litres of whisky at Rs. 2.20 per litre.

To find:

The amount of water added to the wine to make the profit of 25%.

Solution:

1) The cost price of the wine is ₹2.20 per litre.

and the cost price of water is ₹0 per litre.

2) The selling price of the mixture is ₹2.25 and profit of 25%.

fraction value of 25% is 1/4

So ratio of SP is 5

so, 5 ---- 2.25

1 ------- 0.45

4 ------ 0.45×4

4 ------ 1.8

3) The ratio of the wine and water in the mixture,

  • Wine           Water

         2.2                0

                    1.8

         1.8                0.4

         9          :          2

4) According to the question 54 litre of wine is used,

  • 9 ---------- 54
  • 1 ------------ 54/9 = 6
  • 2 ----------- 12

12 litre water is mixed in the mixture.
