a wire 24 ohm is bent in the form of a square. find the equivalent resistance across its diagonally opposite corner?

Answer ⇒ 6 ohm.

Explanation ⇒

If the wire will be bent in the form of square, then each side will have the same resistance.

Since, the wire have 4 sides, hence, Resistance of each side of the wire is given as,

24/4 = 6 ohm.

Now, visualize the figure given in Attachment.

There will be two series combination of two sides of sqaure on each side of diagonal.

Now, Resistance of series combination = 6 + 6 = 12 ohm.

This 12 ohm is on both sides of the diagonal.

Now, Net Resistance = R₁R₂/(R₁ + R₂)

= 12²/(12 + 12)

= 144/24

= 6  ohm.

Hence, the net resistance of the wire in square form is 6 ohm.
