Given

  • A wire from the top of a telephone pole to a point on the ground 12m from the pole is 24m.

Explanation

✮ Let the length of the pole be x and We can apply Pythagoras theorem to find the exact length of Pole as:-

✮ As We know that:

(Hypotenuse)² = (Base)² + (Perpendicular)²

According to Question,

We have Diagonal distance as 24m and base Length as 12m then Applying theorem :-

➨ (24)² = (12)² + (Perpendicular)²

➨ 576 = 144 + (Perpendicular)²

➨ 576 - 144 = (Perpendicular)²

➨ 432 = (Perpendicular)²

➨ (Perpendicular) = √[432]

Perpendicular = 20.7 m

Hence,

  • The Exact length of the Pole is 20.7 m.
