In both the cases, the volume of the wire is same. So

V=Al=A'l'orA'=All'=All/2=2A

Now R=ρlA

and R'=ρl'A'=ρ×(1/2)2A=14=ρlA=R4

∴R'=164=4Ω

% decrease in resistance

=R−R'R×100=16−416×100=75%
