A wire is 10 cm long and its resistance is 25 ohm .it is cut into 2 pieces of length 4 cm and 6 cm.what is d resistance of ech piece of wire
how to work out this problem?

Answer:

the resistance of the wire with lenght 4cm is 10ohm,

and the resistance of the wire with lenght 6cm id 15 ohm.

Explanation:

in this question you only have to keep in mind that the resistivity and the area of cross section is constant in each case rest is a cake walk!

R1=10cm/A=25;

A=10/25=2/5;

R2=4cm/A;

4/R2 = 2/5 => R2= 10ohm

R3=6cm/A;

6/R3 =2/5 =>  R3 = 15ohm

*i didn't took into account the resistivity(rho) as it remains constant all through.
