Answer :-

★ Side of the square = 12 cm

★ Area of the square = 144 cm²

Given :-

  • A wire is bent in shape of an equilateral triangle of side 16 cm it is rebent to form a square.

To find :-

  • Side of the square
  • Area of the square

Knowledge Required :-

→ Formula to calculate perimeter of an equilateral triangle :-

  • Perimeter = sum of all sides

→ Formula of perimeter of square :-

  • Perimeter = 4a

where : a is the side of the square.

→ Formula to calculate area of square :-

  • Area = side²

Solution :-

Perimeter of the equilateral triangle :-

→ Perimeter = sum of all sides

→ Perimeter = 16 + 16 + 16

→ Perimeter = 48

Perimeter of the equilateral triangle = 48 cm

Perimeter of the equilateral triangle = Perimeter of the square

→ Perimeter of square = 4a

→ 48 = 4a

→ 48/4 = a

→ 12 = a

Side of the square = 12 cm

Area of square :-

→ Area = side²

→ Area = (12)²

→ Area = 144

Area of the square = 144 cm²
