Question

A wire is bent in the shape of a rectangle. Its length is 45 m and breadth is 25 m. If the same wine ja

rebent in the shape of a square, what will be the measure of each side? Also find which shape enclose

more area, rectangle or square?

Solution

For Rectangle ⤵

Lenght => 45 m

Breadth => 25m

Perimeter of Rectangle => 2 ( l+b)

=> 2 (45+25)

=> 2× 70

=> 140m

For Square

Perimeter of Rectangle = Perimeter of Square

140m = 4x

x = 140/4

x = 35 m

Side Of Square is 35 metre.

Answer:

According to the question:-

Perimeter of rectangle=Perimeter of square

 \bold{ \implies{4 \times side = 2(length + breadth)}}

 \bold{\implies 4 \times side = 2(45m + 25m)}

 \bold{ \implies{4 \times side = 2 \times 70m}}

 \bold{ \implies{side =  \frac{2 \times 70}{4}  = 35cm}}

Thus, the side of the square is 35 cm.

 \bold{Now \:  the \:  area \:  of  \: rectangle=l×b}

 \bold {\implies{45 \times 25 =  {990}cm^{2} }}

 \bold{ \implies{Area \: of \: square = side \times side}}

 \bold{ \implies{35 \times 35 = 1225 {cm}^{2} }}

Therefore on comparing the area of square is greater than the rectangle.
