The length of three pieces are 23, 46, 49 cm respectively.

Given

Length of the wire = 118 cm

The wire is cut into three pieces.

Let the length of three pieces are m, n, p.

According to the question,

Length of the second piece is twice the length of first piece

⇒ n = 2m (1)

Length of the third piece is 3cm more than the second piece.

⇒ p = 3 + n

⇒ p = 3 + 2m (2)

The wire is cut into three pieces.

So, m + n + p = 118

⇒ m + 2m + 3 + 2m = 118

⇒ 5m + 3 = 118

⇒ 5m = 118 - 3

⇒ 5m = 115

⇒ m = 115 / 5

⇒ m = 23

Length of the first piece = 23 cm

Length of the second piece

n = 2m

⇒ n = 2(23)

⇒n = 46

Length of the third piece

p = 3 + n

⇒p = 3 + 46

⇒p = 49

The length of all pieces are respectively 23, 46, 49 cm respectively.
