A wire is in the shape of a rectangle. Its length is 40 cm and breadth is 22 cm. If the
same wire is rebent in the shape of a square, what will be the measure of each side.
Also find which shape encloses more area?​

Answer:

Given = Length- 40 cm

Breadth -22 cm

Perimeter of rectangle= 2(l+b)

= 2 × (40+22)

= 2 × 62

= 124 cm.

Now, we know that

perimeter of rect. = perimeter of square (as the same wire is used)

therefore, perimeter of square is 124 cm and its side is 31 cm (124 = 4 × side)

Now , the area of rect. = l × b

= 40× 22

880cm.

the area of square = side × side

= 31× 31

961cm

Therefore, the area of square is greater.

= (961-880) cm²
