A wire is in the shape of a rectangle
whose length is 45 cm and breadth 25 cm.
If the same wire is rebent in the shape of
a square, what will be the measure of
each side. Also, find which shape
encloses more area.

Answer:

Length of rectangle wire = 45cm

Breadth of rectangle wire = 25cm

Perimeter = 2 (l+b)

= 2 (45+25)

=2×70

= 140cm

Perimeter of square = 4×side = 140

1side of square = 140÷4

= 35cm

Area of rectangle = l×b

= 45×25

= 1125cm²

Area of square = side×side

= 35×35

= 1225cm²

Area of square > Area of rectangle
