40cm = 2(l + b)

40÷2 =12 + b

20 - 12 = b

therefore perimeter o f the square = perimeter of the rectangle

∴ perimeter of the rectangle is also = 40cm

we know the formula for the perimeter of a rectangle that is 2( l + b)

=> 2(l + b) = 40cm

=> 2(12 + b) = 40cm

=> 12 + b = 40/2

=> 12 + b = 20cm

=> b = 20 - 12
