[ The wire was in the shape of a square, And the same wire was rebent into a rectangle. So, the length of the wire i.e. the perimeter of both shapes will be the same.]

Perimeter of the square = Perimeter of the rectangle = 40cm

Length of the rectangle = 12 cm

let Breath of the rectangle = x

Perimeter of the rectangle = 40 cm

For a rectangle:

\underline{\boxed{\rm Perimeter = 2(length+breath)}}

➞ 40 cm = 2 ( 12cm + x )

➞ 40 cm = 24cm + 2x

➞ 40cm - 24cm = 2x

➞ 16cm = 2x

➞ 8cm = x

Breath of the rectangle = 8cm

Let the breadth be b.

A/C:-

2(12+b)=40 cm

=>24+2b=40

=>2b=40-24

=>2b=16

=>b=8 cm

The value of breadth is 8 cm
