the rectangle acquire more area by approx 639.75 cm

lucifer268: The perimeter of the square and the rectangle will be same that is 124. so if we divide 124 by 4 we get 31 so the length of the side of the square will be 31 and so its area will be 991 square units. Comparatively area of the rectangle is 880 units. So the difference is 991 - 880 that is one 111 units.

Soln: Given,

length = 40 cm
breadth = 22 cm

perimeter \: of \: rectangle  \\  = 2 \times (l + b) \\  = 2 \times (40 + 22) \\  = 2 \times 62 \\  = 124
Now,
Perimeter of square = 124
=> 4 × side = 124
=> Side = 124/4
= 31 cm

Therefore,
Area of rectangle = l × b
= 40 × 22
= 880 cm²

And
Area of square = ( side)
= (31)²
= 961 cm²
= 2×(l+b)
= 2×(40+22)
= 2×62
= 124
=> 4 × side = 124
=> Side = 124/4
= 31 cm
