A wire is moulded into a circle of radius 14 cm. Then the wire is bent and shaped into a rectangle of length 24m. Find the area of the rectangle thus formed.​

i)

radius of the circle formed = 14 cm

length of the wire = circumference of the circle

                             = 2πr = 2 x 22/7 x 14 = 88 cm

∴ length of the wire is 88 cm.

ii)

length of the rectangle formed = 24 cm

length of the wire = perimeter of the rectangle

                       88 = 2 (l + b)

                    88/2 = 24 + b

                          b = 44 - 24

                          b = 20 cm

∴ Area of the rectangle = l x b = 24 x 20 = 480 cm²
