•Elongation for a wire is given by

Elongation,L' = FL/AE = 0.01m

where, L' is elongation, F is force, L is length, A is area, and E=stress/strain.

•Diameter and length are doubled. So radius is also doubled by which A'=πr² =π(2r)² =4πr² =4A

•Then new elongation will be

L' = F(2L)/(4A)E = 1(0.01)/2 = 0.005m = 0.5cm.
