Given

Length of the wire = 60 cm

It is divided in the ratio 7:3:5.

Let the pieces be x cm.

=> 7x + 3x + 5x = 60

=> 15x = 60

=> x = 4

=> 7x = 7 * 4

         = 28 cm

=> 3x = 3 * 4

         = 12 cm

=> 5x = 5 * 4

         = 20 cm

Therefore, the length of the smallest piece of wire is 12 cm.

Answer: The wire measuring 60cm is cut into three pieces of ratio 7:3:5. So the length of all the three pieces are 7x,3x and 5x.

A.T.Q.

7x+3x+5x=60

15x=60

x=4

So, the length of all the pieces of wire is

7x=7x4=28 cm

3x=3x4=12 cm

5x=5x4=20 cm

Hence the length is 12 cm.
