Better understand the concept rather than blind idea. Say old Resistance is R1. New resistance is R2.

Decrease in length would reduce the resistance proportionally. R1 will be half by length.

Radius affects by its square. Decrease in radius would increase the resistance. Being squared, resistance would increase by 4 as new radius is 1/2

R2= R1x4/2=2R1
