A wire of given material having length l and area of cross section A has resistance of 4Ω .What would be the resistance wire of another wire of same material l/2 and area of cross section 2A?

As we know ,resistivity is

ρ=R x l/ A

So ,resistance is

R= ρ x l /A

for first wire,

R1 = ρ x l/A =4Ω

For second wire,

R2 =ρ xl/2/2A = 1/4Ω

R2=1/4 R1

=>1/4 x4

=>1Ω

the resistance of wire is 1Ω
