A wire of given materials length 'l' and area of cross section A has a resistance 10 ohm. What would be the resistance of another wire of the same materials having l/4 and area of cross section 2.5 A ?​

For first wire length = l and area of croos section = a

Resistance = p l/a = 2.5 ohm [given]

For second wire length = l/2 and area of cross section = 2.5a

Resistance = p (l/2) / 2.5a

                   = p l/2.5a

                   = p l/a * 1/4 [p l/a = 2.5 ohm]

                   = 2.5*1/4 =  1.6 ohm

The resistance of second wire = 1.6ohm
