tension produced in the wire is 720 N

length of wire, l = 1m

mass of wire, m = 2g = 0.002 kg

frequency of tuning fork, f = 300 Hz

using formula, f = 1/2l √{T/μ}

where μ is mass per unit length.

so, μ = 0.002kg/1m = 0.002 kg/m

now, 300 = 1/2 × 1 √{T/0.002}

⇒600 = √{T/0.002}

⇒360000 × 0.002 = T

⇒T = 720 N

hence tension produced in the wire is 720 N
