A wire of length 100 cm is bent into a rectangle. If the length of the rectangle is 10 cm more than its breadth, find the area of the rectangle.

Answer:

perimeter of rectangle=100cms

let the breadth=x cms.

length=(x+10)cms

perimeter of rectangle=2l+2b

100=2×(x+10)+2x

100=2x+20+2x

100 - 20=4x

80/4 = x

x = 20cms

breadth=20cms

length=x+10

=20+10

=30cms

area of rectangle=length×breadth

= 30×20

= 600 sq.cms.
