jenn2003: sorry.,can you please explain?
govindsharmazerofour: yes I can , first Rho is the resistivity l is the length of the given wire and A is the area of cross section of the wire , then i just put all the things in the given formula in MKS (metre kg second) unit system
govindsharmazerofour: thanks for asking your doubt
jenn2003: i know all these, but
jenn2003: ok send me step by step.. i have doubt in cross section area
govindsharmazerofour: consider wire as a long cylinder , now at the end of the wire there are two circular sections , now the area of these circular section is known as area of cross section
jenn2003: i know wht is cross section area
jenn2003: sorry.. n thnkyou
jenn2003: you tried well

Given that,

Length of wire, l = 10 cm = 0.1 kg

Diameter of the wire, d = 1 mm = 0.001 m

Radius of wire, r = 0.0005 m

Resistivity, \rho=5\ \Omega-m

To find,

Resistance of the wire.

Solution,

Resistance of wire in terms of resistivity, length and area is given by :

R=\rho \dfrac{l}{A}

A is area of wire

R=5\times \dfrac{0.1}{\pi (0.0005)^2}\\\\R=6.36\times 10^6\ \Omega

So, the resistance of the wire is 6.36\times 10^6\ \Omega.
