Answer:

  • Length of rectangle = 25 cm
  • Breadth of rectangle = 18 cm

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

  • Length of wire = 86 cm
  • Length of wire is 7 cm more than its breadth.

To Find:

  • Length and breadth of the wire.

Let,

  • Breadth = x cm
  • Length = 7 + x cm

As it is given that, a wire is bent to make a rectangle.

So, Length of wire = Perimeter of Rectangle

Hence, Perimeter of rectangle = 86 cm

As we know that,

⇒ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

⇒ 86 = 2(7 + x + x)

⇒ 86 = 2(7 + 2x)

⇒ 86 = 14 + 4x

⇒ 86 - 14 = 4x

⇒ 72 = 4x

⇒ x = 72/4

⇒ x = 18 cm.

Hence,

Its breadth = 18 cm

Length = 7 + 18 cm

           = 25 cm

Verification:

⇒ Perimeter of rectangle = 2(l + b)

⇒ 86 = 2(18 + 25)

⇒ 86 = 2(43)

⇒ 86 = 86

Hence Proved!!!
