A wire of resistance 1000 O is uniformly
stretched so that its length increases by 5%
Assuming that the volume of the wire remains
the same on stretching, find the resistance of
the wire after stretching.

Answer is 1102.5

\bold{Explanation:}

The correct answer is option B - 1.01 R.

As there is an increase in length, there is also an increase in the resistance.

The formula for resistance (R) = resistivity (r) x Length (L)/Area (A)

So, the new resistance = R + 1/100R

= R + R/100

= 101R/100

The new resistance = 1.01 R
