A wire of resistance 20 ohm resistance is bent in the form of a closed circle.What is the effective resistance between two points at the ends of any diameter of the circle?

As the wire is bent so the lenth of the diameter reduces to half. We know that resistance is directly proportional to length

Therefore, the two resistances 20/2 ohm will be in parallel.

effective resistance,

1/R = 1/10 + 1/10

1/R = 1/5

R = 5ohm

Both the semi circles will act as resistance joined in parallel to each other..
Hence,

R = R1R2/(R1+R2)

R1 = R2 = R = 20/2 = 10

R = 5
